Community Law Wellington and Hutt Valley is a legal service providing free legal information to everyone who needs it. Our city offices are open at specific times of the day and night, and we also have outreach clinics in a number of suburbs throughout Wellington and the Hutt Valley. You don’t need a booking, but it pays to arrive early to put your name down as people are seen in the order they arrive.

Our services are completely free and confidential and you are welcome to bring a support person. You can see someone who is right for you, for example, a Māori lawyer or a woman lawyer.
Please note, we can’t help with some issues:
- We don’t give advice to landlords, employers, businesses or people in dispute with community groups
- We can’t prepare or witness wills, powers of attorney, or relationship property agreements
- We don’t give advice about land and property transactions or administration of estates
