Who is the suspension support team?
The Suspension support team is staffed by trained volunteer youth advocates and is available to young people and their families in the Wellington region. It is a joint project between the Community Justice Project and Community Law Wellington and Hutt Valley’s Parents Legal Information Line.
The suspension support team aims to work collaboratively with schools to reach outcomes and solutions which will benefit both the student and the school. We aim to preserve relationships between students and schools and build ongoing action plans to help young people continue with their education.
What can the suspension support team do?
The suspension support team can:
- Provide you with a trained youth advocate
- Help you prepare for Board of Trustee meetings
- Attend meetings with you
- Act as a support person
- Speak for you, if necessary
- Help ensure that the Board follows the correct process.
