Pro Bono Support

Many sole practitioners, and law firm partners and staff, volunteer at Community Law Wellington and Hutt Valley legal advice sessions, and make themselves individually available to assist Community Law in all sorts of ways. A number of firms also make contributing to Community Law Wellington and Hutt Valley an on-going part of their business in other ways.

Bell Gully has a secondment set up with Community Law Wellington and Hutt Valley on a bi-monthly basis. provides pro bono assistance on a one person, one day per week basis. In addition Bell Gully accepts referrals for pro bono case work, provides legal opinions to Community Law Wellington and Hutt Valley, and gives Community Law access to its in-house training programmes.

Buddle Findlay provides lawyers on a fortnightly basis for a session in the Hutt Valley office.

Chapman Tripp accepts pro bono referrals from Community Law.

DLA Philips Fox provides lawyers on a fortnightly basis for a session in the Hutt Valley office and provides legal opinions to Community Law.

John Miller Law provides lawyers to the Community Law Wellington and Hutt Valley prison roster.

Minter Ellison Rudd Watts provides lawyers for our outreach clinic in Newlands and accepts pro bono referrals.

Russell McVeagh has a secondment set up with Community Law Wellington and Hutt Valley on a bi-monthly basis, accepts referrals of small criminal and civil matters from Community Law Wellington and Hutt Valley on a pro bono basis, and provides volunteer lawyers for one weekly lunchtime session.

Thomas Dewar Sziranyi Letts provides lawyers to participate in the Community Law Wellington and Hutt Valley prison roster, the weekly outreach clinics in southern suburbs of Wellington, and for one weekly session in the Hutt Valley office.
