Our Rōia Kaitūao (volunteer lawyers) volunteer on our free drop-in legal advice sessions. These sessions each have a general and specialist focus area like family or employment law. This means rōia can volunteer as a general rōia or a specialist rōia (in the area of your expertise).

Practicing Certificates
Rōia Kaitūao must hold a current practicing certificate in New Zealand. If you have completed your law degree and professionals but do not hold a current practicing certificate yet, please get in touch to see what other opportunities we may have.
Current kaitūao/volunteer vacancies
We are accepting applications for all of our sessions, but are currently prioritising the following:
- Refugee and Immigration rōia (training provided) and kaihāpai for both RILAS sessions: Tuesday 5.30-7 in Pōneke and Wednesday 12-2 in Te Awa Kairangi
- Employment rōia for our Tuesday 5-7 session in Te Awa Kairangi
- General rōia for our Wednesday 12-2 session in Te Awa Kairangi
- General rōia for our Wednesday 12-2 session in Pōneke
- Benefits rōia (full training provided) and general rōia for our Monday 12-2 WINZ session in Pōneke
We are also seeking rōia with experience in insurance, ACC, tenancy, criminal, and land transport (drink-driving type offences). Please mention in your application form if you have this experience!
